  • How to Configure a Export Format Template

    Export :

    In PIM Desktop, the export module provides the feature to export product data to the electronic magalogue . Based on the requirement of our e-commerce data is formatted through export format templates. This templates is useful to provide all details about the exported data to be exported.

    Lets see how to configure an Export Template .

    Configuring Export Template:

    It involves following steps :

    • Create export format Templates
    • Connect and configure Data sources
    • Uses variables and Export functions
    • Define types, Name and format of output files
    • Export and Test the data.

    Lets discuss the Export of data in the comma-separated CSV format.

    Create Export Format Templates :

    Export Format Template provides a template containing modules showing all the information about the data field to be exported.In order to create it follow the following steps:

    • Call up Perspective → Open
    • This will open Export Format Template wizard
    • From the Properties view, enter the template name
    • In the “format” drop down list  select the entry TXT, CSV, XML,HTML say “ TXT” if we formatting the output in text format.
    • In the “Encoding ” drop down list select the entry UTF-8, UTF-16,ISO-8859-1 by default “ISO-8859-1”
    • Enter the description for the exported format.
    • Click On Save.
    • This will provide the wizard so that if we want to re-enter it again
    • Click on OK
    • Now It is created.

    Connect and Configure Data sources

    Data Sources helps in information that we want to extract from PIM. For selecting and configuring Data Sources, follow the steps given below :

    • Select the Node (Main) from Export format Template wizard created above.
    • Select settings → Export format Template Settings → “Data Sources” tab
    • Click on “New” → New Data Source Wizard will open
    • Select the Data Sources.
    • Click on OK → OK to save settings.

    Defining Variable :

    Follow following Steps :

    • In the Export Format view select variable tab
    • Give the name of variable say Date;
    • Select the Type of Variable you have declare here date will be type.

    Configuring Module :

    In order to use the data source, we need to create the Module. By default PIM Desktop create the default module.It is necessary to make Tree structure like Root -> Margin Module -> Data Module 

    In the Module section , it provides data content, method to display,functions to call, file format to be used to be specify in the module for exporting our data. But if we want to create New Module, follow the following Procedure :

    • Select the “New Module “ form Export Template Wizard.
    • This will create module below the root Node.
    • In the Properties, give name of this module, field name that is to be output. For example
    Item_No       GTIN       Manufacture

     

    Editing The Module :

    In order to edit the module open Module Editor

    • Open The Module by double clicking on it. Module Editor will get open
    • Select the data Source for this module
    • Select the data Type.
    • Choose between data Module view by CTRL+SPACEBAR
    • Select & data field
    • Enter to confirm
    • Press CTRL+SPACEBAR again, to make selection for different field
    • Put Semicolon(;) as a separator between the data field
    • After you have selected the data field separated with ; Press Enter for Line Break. Line Break ensure that each record in the exported file will be in the Next Line
    • Click On Save Icon

    Test Export:

    • Click On “Export Profile” Icon in Export Format Template View
    • Select an Item that is created in Data Source.
    • Click On NEXT
    • Select The Export Destination
    • Run The Execution .
    • Save it Locally
    • Click Finish.

    Formatting The Exported (Output ) File:

    Although the Output We have got, But it is necessary that we produce the Output In a specific way .For this follow the follow following steps :

    • Go to Module Editor
    • Move the cursor to the particular field
    • Press CTRL +SPCEBAR to open input Wizard
    • Now Select ? Function (In PIM ? → indicator of a function )
    • Select any function say FillRight function
    • Add the Required Parameter.

    For ex:

    (?FILLRIGHT(&ITEMS.itemno),12,); (?FILLRIGHT(&ITEMS.GTIN),4,);(?FILLRIGHT(&manufacturer),10,);(%date)
    • For performing again we Can call up CTRL+SPACEBAR again after selecting the data Fields.
    • Click On Save
    • This done With the Formatting of Output File.
    Export Configuring Export File
