What is Volume Testing ?

Volume testing comes under the non-functional testing group. Volume testing tests an application/software for a confirmed data volume or any product with specific quantity of facts or data. For exp, if we want to volume test of an application or product or software with a proper database size, then first of all we need to expand the database to that size and then test the softwares or applications or products performance for this data volume.

Few characteristics of volume testing are mentioned as below :-
1- Only small amount of data is tested, during development stage.
2- By using of test data generator, test data are normally produced.
3- Design documents are used for the creations of test cases.
4- Results are documented and traced to carry it to closure after completion of the testing.

Few checklist for volume testing is mentioned as below :-
1- We have to confirm if there is any data loss.
2- We have to notice system's response time.
3- We have to confirm if the data is stored wrongly.
4- We have to notice if the data is overwritten without any warning.
