Hello Readers, In This Blog I am discussing on Structure and Its Types In PIM. Lets see in detail :

Overview :

Informatica PIM ie, Product Information Management helps to defines the structure in which we can classify and maintain items and products . PIM also helps in defining the feature for a specific category of products.

Goals :

Before Classifying the products, we prefer to set the goals which are given below :

• Knowing the preset values for an attributes that are assigned during the maintenance structure.
• Allowing the synchronization of features from the maintenance structure group to items and products.
• Displaying the preset values for attributes that are based on features in the attributes tables.
• Building layers that would helps in future Attributes Enhancement.
• Displaying preset values with the explicit context in structure group.

Structure Types :

PIM provides default structures types which are available in PIM are as follows :

• Primary maintenance structure/ Maintenance Structures
• Secondary maintenance structure/Maintenance Structures
• Output structure (default selection in the wizard)/Non-Maintenance Structures
• Classification system/Non-Maintenance Structures
• Material group system

Rules :

While Classify the Structure, we should follow certain Rules which are given below :

• Primary Structure should be created only one but there could be multiple secondary structure.
• It should not be Multi-classification.
• Attributes of Product should have only one Attributes Feature Reference in the Primary and Secondary Structure Hierarchy.
• Attributes of Product can have more mapping Attributes Feature Reference in the Output and Classification Structure Hierarchy.
• Maintenance Structure can inherit feature but Output Structure cannot, only mapping is Possible.
• Only in the Output Structure, it holds different default values while rest structure holds same default values.
• Primary and Secondary Structure contains Products and Items Only at Leaf Nodes.
