    In PIM Desktop, Data Quality is integrated within PIM and using this Data Quality Components we can validate the data or we can run Data Quality rules of PIM before exporting it to the Web Shops or Print Publishings.With the Data Quality,We can create Data Quality rules, we can export those rules with meta data. It can be imported within PIM . That Rule can be run against the data with in PIM data..

    Data Quality involves checking the data should be correct, not contradict with itself or other Records,reliable, accurate,uniform throughout PIM, unambiguous and up-to-date. For this Quality Rules are implemented.

     

    Quality Rules : These are the rules that are created for the purpose of Data Quality checks. Quality rules can be configured in order to use again and again. Rules can be implemented in situations like data may have incorrect, invalid, duplicate values or wrong assignment .All these rules are managed under Data Quality Perspective.

     

    This can be open as :

    Perspective  Open  Management  Data Quality .

     

    Now a new wizard opens with two portions :

    Left Portion → This section holds all channels to which Data has to be supplied. Like Web Shops, e procurement, Print Publishing ,etc. Based on the channel we can perform Quality check.

    Right Portion → It contains two tab Data Quality Configuration and Scheduling.

    In PIM Desktop, Quality Rules are necessary for Data Cleansing for both import and output Port and both these refer to same data type.

     

    Creating Quality Rules.

    • Open Data Quality perspective
    • In the Right Section Click on Data Quality Configuration
    • In order to have to clear View,in this we first create Category (to Group the Rules ), then under this we create Rule Groups Under this we Create Specific Rules.

     

    Creating New Check Category:

    • Click on Icon to create category
    • Enter the Descriptive Name
    • Enter description
    • Click on Save Icon

     

    Creating Rule groups :

    • Select the Category you wanted to make Rule Groups
    • Click ON icon Of Rule Group
    • Enter the Descriptive Name
    • Enter description
    • Specify the Data Type say 'ITEM' for which rule Group will Apply
    • Click on Save Icon

     

    Creating Rules : 

    • Select the Rule group in the category for which we wanted to make Rule
    • Click on Icon Of rule
    • Enter the Rule Name
    • Enter description
    • Click on Icon With three dots to open dialog box
    • This Dialog Box will provide a predefined rules to select and apply.
    • For custom Rules can be added by : Add Rules →  PIM Data Quality RULES sets (This comes with PIM Downloaded package)-> Import XML files for Custom Rules provide by PIM as Product Requirement → Click OK → Rules are added Successfully.
    • Apart from this, We need to add Reference Rules set for Reference and synchronize.
    • Each Rules can be used to check data type based on configuration and its relevant description provided.
    • Select the Rules.
    • Click on Save Icon

     

    Performing Quality Checks :

    • Open The Perspective containing the Objects on which you want to check
    • Select The Items.
    • Right click On Item.
    • Execute The Run
    • Which Data Quality Rule we need to run
    • Provide the Channel
    • Execute Rule.
    • Check The Status as :

    Red: Check has find Error

    Green: Check has found No error

    Black : Check has not completed because object may have been changed.
