Hello Readers, this Blog will guide you about “Basic Workflow Elements” In PIM.
Overview :
Workflow is the pictorial Representation of Events, Tasks , Cyclic check based on which some actions are Provoke. We build the Workflow by adding PIM objects and connect these Objects with the help of Some Sequence flows.
In PIM, Workflow Manager interface helps you to prompt some Actions when some Events or Cyclic Checks occurs This module helps in monitoring, coordinating and managing standardized Workflows.
This module work with Pipeline (compulsory), Archive, Hotfolder Medias, Production as Optional.
Basic Workflow Elements involve in PIM are :
- Watchpoint
- Startpoint
- Checkpoint
- Actionpoint
- Taskpoint
Role Of Administrator
The two roles that the Administrator can perform are Activating and locking Workflow and Parameterized Workflow. This allows you to specify what we want in response once the media get finished through Workflow while processing MEDIAS object, jobs, etc after some days. These days can be control by following rules:
- Greater than Zero (>0 ) : After specified Number of days
- Equal to Zero (=0) : At every interval
- Equal to Negative One (-1) : only when Workflow has been saved.
Detail Description of Workflow Elements :
Watchpoint :
This exemplifies the event source to be monitored. for example media area, group of particular groups. It has only one output. These events can be link to Checkpoints and Actionpoint as Input.
The following categories exemplify where Watchpoint exists
- Cyclically Monitored Media Assets. This may involve Watchpoint that need to be check regularly like media assets either from particular group, or for defined categories of a group or all assets. Such Watchpoint are not provoked by User.
- Event Monitored Media Assets : This involves Watchpoint that need to be check when some events happens like the modification or creation of newly media assets.
Following events for media assets that can be Provoke are:
- Has a new Media Object been Created ? → It means that Workflow will only be Provoke if New Media Assets is created .
- Has a new Media Object been Modified ? → It means that Workflow will only be Provoke if New Media Assets is modified .
- Has a new Media Object been Created or Changed ? → It means that Workflow will only be Provoke if New Media Assets is created or Modified.
- Has a new Media Object(except by rescan) been Modified? → It means that Workflow will only be Provoke if New Media Assets is modified without rescan.
Startpoint :
As the name suggest, Startpoint is the Entry point into a Task based Workflow.
Following events for media assets that can be Provoke are:
- Assign Task based Workflow to MEIDAS object.
- Assign Task based Workflow to MEDIAS group.
Checkpoint :
It performs a specific check on the event occurrence. It always uses one input and produces two output. The value return by Checkpoint can be +ve or -ve. The Output's can be Connected to one of the Checkpoint, Actionpoint, Taskpoint.
Following events for media assets that can be Provoke are
- Has the Validity Period for Media Objects Exceed?
- Is Validity Period for Media Objects Blank?
- Has the Validity Period for Media Objects less than xxxxx days?
- Data Types of MEDIAS objects contains xxxx?
Actionpoint :
Depending on the Startpoint or Watchpoint , following Actionpoint can be provided for MEDIAS objects like.
- Creating XML file for PIM objects.
- Delete Medias Objects from Group/
- Delete Medias Objects from database
- Assign the Medias Objects to the Group.
Various Placeholders are there for Actionpoint while provoking email related events like
%F → File Name
%2 → Customer Name and Number
%D → Media Purchase Order ID
Taskpoint :
It exemplifies the task to be finished . It always uses 1 input and 2 output. The Output's can be Connected to one of the Checkpoint, Actionpoint, Taskpoint. It creates parameters such as deadline, assigned user groups, what should be done if deadline exceeded, specify duration . This will get initiated by one of Startpoint
- MEDIAS group.
- MEDIAS object
- Production Group/component in a Job from a specified group or campaign.
