Hello Guys !! In this Blog iam gonna tell you about Adjustment Layer Mask. OK Let's get started.

Question 1: How to apply Adjustment Layer Mask?

Adjustment Layer Mask is an another type of mask in which you can define the areas that are not effected by an individual adjustment like Levels, Curves, Hue/Saturation etc. That means you can apply different effects on an image by defining the area for the effect.

Well let's see the Following example:-

1. I have an Image on layer 1

   

2. Now i want to change the color of the flower and about the environment Ammm...!!! I want that in a cool shade. so let see how we can achieve it.
3. There is a icon called add layer mask (shown in the picture below) click on that.

   

4. after clicking the icon, Our layer will look like this.

   

   5.This is adjustment layer mask attached with our layer, Now our layer will be visible according to the black and white shade of the mask. Remember that a mask has two color Black and white. we can see the thing in the white area of the mask and vice versa.

   6.so i want to select the flower, or in other words i have to define a area for the effect which i want to apply on the flower. so click on the mask then slect the brush and black color and paint the area other than flower.

   7.So it will look like this:-

   

   8 I actually not doing anything on the original image. All the work is done on mask.
   

   9.Ok so now i want to change the color of the flower. So i add a photofilter, and it will look like this:-

   

   I used the same mask on photofilter layer. Simply just drag the mask of layer0 by pressing alt key and release it on the photofilter layer. 10.So now, I want to add some coolness in the background. Make a daplicate of original layer, click on the mask and make the mask invert by pressing cntrl+i. and add some cool photofilter effect.

   

   Great !!! This is how the Adjustment Layer Mask works.
