    What is Smoke Testing?

    Smoke Testing: In computer software terms smoke testing is when you power on new hardware for the first time and if it do not catches fire or no smoke comes out it means the testing is successful. A smoke test is done in the first phase of the software testing life cycle to make sure the need and requirement of testing. A smoke test is scripted whether you use a written/manual test cases or automated test script. It is done just to test whether the decisive or critical parts or functions of an application or software/hardware is preforming or not but it is done in hasty or not through in detailed way.

    Hello Neha,

    I have heard that Smoke Test is generally done by the developers them self only. It will be not be true to say that Smoke testing is done only by developers according to me it can be done by developers or testers.
