    What is Google+

    Google+ is a social media platform provided from Google.com to all the users. It is one of the growing social channel. Google has launched this social media in June 2011. The main features of this platform include posting updates, photos, create different groups based on relationships into Circles. It is also embedded with some advanced features like IM, Hangouts(chat and video chats), events creation, etc.

    This social media is hosted by Google itself thats why it plays an important role in impacting search result on Google, so this is also considered an important platform for social media marketing for any business or a brand. So we must use this channel for promoting any business as a part of our social media marketing strategy along with Facebook and Twitter.

    Basic things to remember for profile & business page

    There are some basic things that we need to remember while creating a Google+ profile and business page in order to get it rank well on search engine result pages. Here I am sharing some of the basic things that I have used in past to set up a perfect Google+ profile and business page.

    Creating Google+ profile & business page

    • Complete your profile with your photo and short bio about you.

    • Select your business type carefully and create a page for your business.

    • Create different circle according to your business need.

    • Connect lot of people and invite people to join you on Google+

    • Export your FB, Twitter, LinkedIn, and other social media website contact information and send request them to join you.

    Optimize your profile and page properly

    • Enable +1 for your profile. This can be done by clicking on +1 button and edits your profile and check the option Show this tab on your profile.

    • Optimize Google plus profile name because it works as search title in SERP.

    • Optimize the about us description as Google uses about us description as meta description in search results, so fill this part properly.

    • Fill the link details as they are also fetched by search engine, so you need to add a website which you want to search by search engine.

    • Add your education and employment, and location information on your profile. It appears on your profile image when someone mouse-over on your profile.

    • You can use this tool www.gplus.to/ to shorten your Google+ profile URL and share that URL with your friends.

    • Link your Google+ page with your website or blog, for this you just need to add a short code to your website or blog Find us on Google+ This code enable your Google+ page on search result. So you can add you company or your name into rel=publisher field, This will help to get your name on Google search results.

    These are some guidelines which we can use to optimize our Google+ profile and page which will help to promote a profile or a business page on G+ social media marketing platform.
