HTTPS stand for Hyper Text Transfer Protocol Secure, It is the secure version of HTTP. This protocol is used over which data is sent between the browser and website that the user is connected to.Word 'S' at the end of HTTPS stands for 'Secure'. It just means that all communications between browser and the website are totally encrypted. This is often used to protect highly confidential sites for example 'Online banking' and 'Online shopping'.
Many web browsers such as Internet Explorer, Firefox and Chrome also display a padlock icon in the address bar on the top of screen to visually indicate that a HTTPS connection is secured and trusted. '
