Material handling in hospitals is an important part of any process. Manufacturing can be as productive as a business's materials management system can move raw materials and finished products. When hazardous materials are used in manufacturing processes, safety becomes an even more important factor. No matter how fast a process is required to move goods, safety must be a top priority. You must use high-quality medical trolleys for the transportation purpose.
When used properly, hazardous substances need not pose an undue risk to workers. Containers and drums that are safely moved and used do not cause accidents or damage. It is important to never tip the drum over its edge. No matter what one claims about its ability to move the drum in this way, it is simply not safe and can easily lead to accidents. Even if the drum only needs to be moved a few feet, always use proper industrial equipment like stainless steel medical trolleys. At a minimum, use a drum dolly or cart to safely move hazardous materials.
Regardless of the method used to transport hazardous materials, only transfer containers that are full and still sealed or that have been emptied and resealed. This way, if a container falls, it will either empty or catch the seal, reducing the chance of injury and damage to other industrial equipment. The best way to avoid moving half-empty containers is to designate areas where drums can be placed and fully utilized without moving to another processing area or machine.
