Material handling is one of the most important parts of a business. It is actually described as the movement, transfer or storage of a particular facility within a larger area of operation. Typically, the process involves very heavy loads, so new or used material handling equipment needs to be relied upon.Never lift with your weak back muscles. Use the core muscles of your legs and feet. Keep your back straight but not completely vertical.

    ·         Never jerk the load, but use a slow controlled lift.

    ·         Keep the product close to your body.

    ·         Keep your body straight and avoid turning your head while lifting.

    ·         Keep the weight at the center of gravity for added leverage.

    ·         Change jobs if possible to avoid fatigue.

None of the above concepts are new, but they are something managers need to be reminded about. These simple products and principles can reduce MSDs. Proper implementation of the above principles can be as simple or as complex as rearranging the work space and involving custom lift equipment but is better and easier than injury.

A cart is one of the most basic tools widely used in material handling. Now you can get all kinds of vehicles which have considered very important factors in their design. Some of these include cart height, handle design, caster size and capabilities. A great industrial example of an ergonomic work cart is made by Topper.
