    Hi All,

In this blog I'm going to discuss about the Splunk, which is an engine for collecting, analyzing and visualizing the data.

Splunk is nothing but a software or rather we can say an application just like a google search engine.

Splunk is a search engine but instead of searching the hole data like google, it searches the data only related to IT (information technology).

Splunk was developed in 1994 in San Francisco and it was used as a big data tool, where big data us the machine generated data which depends on the velocity, variety and voluminous. Now days the data is generated voluminously and also from the different sources and it is quite difficult to store such data effectively and efficiently, hence the Splunk is needed as it takes the data within itself and also store the data in itself in a very efficient manner and that is why Splunk is also known as a big data tool.

Splunk can also take logs from the machine data and records, event details, performance matrix and packet data that is from the network (ex. LAN, WAN).

    Benefits of the Splunk :

    1. A better understanding of your environment to drive decisions.
    2. Search and visualization tool to analyze the data (Question focused dataset)
    3. Automated reporting
    4. Splunk helps in visualizing the data as per the business formats that is in the graphical format.
