Saving layer styles in Photoshop:

Layer styles are the layer blending and effects which are used in the photoshop for the purpose of shadows, gradients and creating depth within the images or illustrations. In this tutorial we are going to create the new styles and also saving it for the further use in the different files.

First of all open a new file in photoshop in which we are going to add an Icon, made within the photoshop, in the new layer.

Now to apply the effects in this Icon, either you can double click on the layer to open up the blending effects palatte or by going down in the layer palatte and you can view some small icons having different options within them.

after you have added these effects to your layer, then above in the layer blending effect options, at the top there is an option called layer style. Select this and you will be able to view all the layer style which photoshop could offer. At the right there is an option called New style, by clicking on this you will have an palette open up to you.

Before making the new style, recheck on the option for enabling the layer blending and layer effects, name the new style and click OK. Now you can view the new layer style along with all the style layers in the palatte.

By saving the style on the style layers, you can always have the access to these kind of effects set if you want to apply on the other files or document of your need. Also there are numerous websites available online from where you can download the layer style and upload it to your photoshop style layer palatte.

For uploading the downloaded layerstyle, you can select the setting symbol at the upper right corner of the style layer pallete. And adding the destination file address you will be able to upload the style.
