Social media is the collection of many online websites & applications that allows people to share their ideas, career interest, pictures/videos and to create, exchange or share information in their social communities & networks. Some of the important Social Media Sites & Applications people often use are Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram etc.

In this blog, I will tell you some eye-opening facts & Statistics about the importance and usage of these social networking websites & apps given below:-

	Facebook has more than 1.49 billion monthly active users out of which 655 million are active mobile users. Facebook has also achieved a goal of 1 billion log in users in a single day. Approximate 1 million links are shared by the users in every 20 minutes.
	Twitter has about 316 million monthly active users. 9100 tweets happen every second. Maximum number of users are in US but it is spreading throughout the world slowly and steadily. From the total active users 80% are on mobile.
	Pinterest has 70 million users. Out of total users 80% are female & 20% are male. Largest number of users are from fashion, health, cooking & decor industry. It is a social which is mainly about a discovery to be shared within the community.
	YouTube has 1 billion users everyday. 25% of total users visits YouTube to watch videos. Approximate 100 hours of video is uploaded in every single minute. Every month 6 billion hours of video are watched. YouTube is used in 56 countries and in 61 languages.
	LinkedIn is a social networking site mainly for business oriented people. It has more than 380 million users. 39 million graduate students are on LinkedIn. 79% users are more than 35 years of age. Every second 2 new members are added.
	Google+ has more than 300 million active users worldwide. 20 million are unique mobile monthly users. Average time spent on Google+ is 3:46 per visit. More than 100 million users are in China.
	Instagram has about 400 million users. 90% users are younger than 35 years of age. It is not just for images but you can also post a 15 second video too. 70% users checks Instagram once in a day. 68% users are women on Instagram. Instagram has more mobile users than Twitter.
