In this short visual presentation, I am going to give a demonstration of the major updates on FindNerd Project Management Software which have been live for product release since 23 May 2017. So without further ado, let's get to it:

Major Changes in this FindNerd Release

    1. FindNerd Projects has a independent Home page and URL

    • projects.findnerd.com will display the Project Home page and after sign up you will land up on your ‘Active Projects’ page
    • Please note , the new Top header navigation which allows you to Navigate to other options like ‘FindNerd Home’, ‘Nerd Digest’ and Projects.
    • You will also notice that the left menu is now having limited Project and company specific options.
    • You can search for a specific Project from the search bar at the top.

    2. Session Tracker changes:

As the various browsers have stopped support for execution of Java jar files due to security reasons, the Session tracker has now been converted to a Java Webstart application.

A .jnlp file will be downloaded when you start the Session from a task or bug and the user has to open this file for the session tracker to start as a desktop app. You will see the UI as shown below for the session details with option to end the session tracker.

The Session tracker will now work on all browsers.

Important Note: You need to end the session using the ‘End Session’ button. Please note that closing the browser will not end the session.

    3. Session Tracker - Known Issue and Workaround for Mac OS

The following issue has been seen on Mac OS:

A file findnerdScreenCapture_xxxxxxxxxx.jnlp is downloaded when the session tracking is started.

When trying to launch this .jnlp file, you are likely to see the following message.

    FN_Macbug.png

Note: Clicking the OK button here does not launch the jnlp file, but terminates the launch process.

The following steps will resolve this issue:

    • Open your Downloads folder and locate the latest JNLP file.
    • Right-click (or Control-click) the jnlp file and then select "Open With > Java Web Start.app"
    • Click the Open button in the dialogue box which appears to launch the .jnlp file.

    4. Project Analytics

    • Reports option has now been renamed as Analytics.
    • Analytics option displays a graphical representation of projects status.

Status-wise breakup of Tasks, Bugs and Sprints is shown in the form of Doughnut graphs.

The Line Graph below the shows the progress of the Tasks, Bugs or Sprints over the project timeline.

    5. Some other changes/improvements on FindNerd Projects

    • The Sprint name is now displayed on the task card in the Search list allowing you to see which Sprint is containing that task. The Sprint name is also displayed on the Task and Bug detail page.

    • The Sprint Detail page provides the information of the Estimated and the Actual hours spent on the tasks and Bugs in the Sprint

    • The Project User Stories can now be edited by the user who has created the Story and there is also a option to generate a pdf.
