FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol . It is a standard protocol used for the transfer files among the internet users.

In FTP we have the client and the server for downloading and uploading files . The server needs to upload the file to the client and the client will download it from the server.

There are two ways to connect to an FTP server. The first way to access it anonymously, or using an known FTP in this case you will provide credentials while logging in as your username and password will be the access .

The two most common ways to connect to an FTP server is with your Web Browser or with a FTP client such as FileZilla. 

To make connection with the FTP server you need to provide your credentials and then only you can access to upload or download the file you want from the server.

Whether you get connected to the FTP with the web browser you have or using the software like FileZilla with viewing the list of file and folders and then download it to use it.

In web browser you will directly download the file without providing the credentials.
