This is the second important factor from the series in Beginners guide to SEO. As discussed before proper keyword research and tagging are important aspects of Search engine optimization, but the importance of Quality content cannot be undermined. Quality content is the key to the doorway leading to high quality traffic and more business.

Your content not only assists in pushing your target market over the tipping point and makes them put in an inquiry or buy a product but it is responsible for how the search engines perceive and rate your business website. Authentic and relevant content propels your web page to the dizzy heights of the SERP summit. Being on the top of an SERP (search engine result page) is like having an advertisement out during Superbowl. your sales and inquiries automatically improve and your business expands. Here are some key points to take care of while creating content.

Here are some tips for better content writing which played a major role in my own development from being a banal creator of prosaic content to a meticulous researcher and a semi decent writer:

Start with getting the basics right- Just like you cant do the moonwalk without learning the basics of dance you are better of writing precise, succinct and original content before testing your luck with something superfluous. Rather than glamorizing my text with fancy words and decorating it with metaphors and similes from the onset, I focus on conveying the basic essence of my topic and then garnish the basic template with some well researched terms which add to the context of the content.

Research like your life depends on it- Once you have an idea or a thought you want to manifest into content, you should firstly make a note and start researching on it as if your life depends on it. the kind of research which will make double Phd holding professors proud. You need to delegate a huge chunk of your time on collecting more data which will help you create what you want rather than finding the best alternative for your own thoughts and simply copying the same.

Connect dots through newer bridges- Most of the information that we convey is taken from similar information in the past. The only difference is in its representation. There are enumerable ways of saying the same thing and ones selective perceptions helps in galvanizing mundane content into something magnificent. Although I do not hesitate in taking references from the abundance of data spread across the internet, but I mold it using my own knowledge, so as to make it unique.

Don't sell combs to bald men- Content relevance is of paramount importance. Just like it would be irrelevant for someone selling watches to create content regarding the benefits of popcorn or an offshore development company to elaborate on the benefits of doing dead lifts, you will not make any marketable sense if you don't focus on the product or service you offer. Even while writing technical blogs I focus on the technology, its applicability and its benefits to readers, making the content I write relevant.

Search engines never sleep, they wont let you cheat- It was easy to steal cookies from the cupboard when everyone at home was asleep, but its not the same case with content. Search engines keep a strict vigil on each and every clause that you create or copy. The penalties for content cheaters is a no entry ticket on the first few thousand pages of search results for the specific website or item written about. If you become inconsequential to search engines you become invisible to prospective customers.

Creativity creates content, copying creates cheaters- I make it a practice to refuel myself with creativity boosting exercise. Reading other blogs helps fuel my own creativity rather than be a source of easily copy-able content. The art of generating your own content might appear difficult at first but then nothing good comes out of doing easier things. The pains you take in creating something original will be rewarded with the pleasure of better search engine rankings, more business and the satisfaction of having created something only you could have created.

Creating original content has multiple effects on the digital marketing strategy of a company. One well ranked page with authentic content well dispersed with product/service related keywords can go a long way in changing your fortunes. In the next article I will elaborate on internal and external linking. Till then keep writing and keep smiling.
