    Comment on it

    Sometimes we need to change the data type of a column in a table. We can do this by using Modify keyword with ALTER command.

    Syntax:

    To change the data type of a column in a table, use the following syntax:

    ALTER TABLE table_name
    MODIFY COLUMN column_name datatype;

    Example: Suppose you have a column "comment" as varchar in comments table and you want to change it's datatype to text then you can do this by using below command:

    ALTER TABLE comments
    MODIFY COLUMN comment TEXT;

    Hope this will help you :)
