  • They probably included a lot of people in IT categories in 1991 in types of IT jobs that no longer exist. You used to have low level IT employees (most of who were women where I worked) load disk and tape drives manually on main frames, run cards through the card readers and hand people their printout. Once main frames went away in favor of minicomputers like VAX's or UNIX workstations those types of jobs went away. Thirty years ago, the IT field has lots of low level types of IT jobs besides paper writing service which are in demand,  whereas today those types of jobs have been eliminated.
