    Hello Readers,

    This post gives an overview of the the description of Catalog in PIM.

    Overview 

    'Catalogs' is the central objects that is used to link with all the major fields of PIM. All the Product Information that is being supplied either by Manufacture or Supplier is stored in the Catalog. This Catalog forms repository for all these information.

    Since, these are various supplier's that would supply Information, so Catalogs maintains its information as well. These meta-information includes

    • Name of catalog
    • Group to which it belongs
    • Structure it follows
    • Catalog identifier
    • Language
    • Suppler
    • Buyer
    • Type of data
    • Catalog edition
    • Catalog status.

     

    Header Data

    As discussed above, PIM Catalog holds not only information related with Product's but also Catalog information also. Below are the heads that the Information Provided by Catalog.

    • Catalog Identifier : This holds the designation for the Identification of the Catalog . This Designation is Language Independent, case sensitive and Unique. It is used to map the with CATALOG_ID in the Repository Catalog of PIM.
    • Catalog Name : With respect to Identifier, this holds name of the Catalog. This Name is Language Dependent, not Case Sensitive and Not Unique. Mostly this Name is chosen in a way by giving Description of Catalog.
    • Supplier : This fields correspond to the Supplier who is supplying the Information. There is only one Catalog Corresponding to each supplier.
    • Customer : This Fields corresponds to the Customer who is receiving the Information..There can be many buyer corresponding to single Catalog.
    • Language : This holds the Information regarding the Language Choose. It is to be note that Single Catalog can hold the Information in many Language.

     

    Types of Catalog

    Catalog can be categories into many forms depending on the sender and receiver of Catalog.

    • If a Supplier supplies the Information that is relevant for Single Buyer then such Catalog is termed as Standard PIM Supplier Catalog.
    • If Suppler supplies the information that is for more buyer then such catalog is termed as Supplier Catalog For Multiple Buyer.

    Visibility Of Catalogs

    PIM controls the Accessibility of Catalog by using Filter functions and Accessibility Rights for each catalog. In order to View the Catalog, PIM maintains the Category of Type of Organization in which User Belongs. Further clearing this filter function, then Individual user have the rights to read, edit or delete any catalog created in PIM.

    Filter Function works on three groups :

    • Operator : Under this type of Organization belonging to Operator, Such User can have authority to view all types of Catalog discussed above.
    • Supplier : User that belong to Supplier Organization will be able to access own catalog .
    • Buyers : A user that belongs to Buyer Organization will be able to access the catalog depending on the Intended buyer ie it belongs to single Super to Buyer or Single Supplier to Multiple Buyer.

    If the Administrator has given the Authority then User after passing through this filter function will be able to read, edit or delete catalog.

    Catalog Overview

    After providing the Relevant Log in Credentials, User will be able to See the Catalog Overview. In this all the List will be displayed which the User have Rights to see.

    Catalog Details

    This is the Progress bar under which any User will be able to see the status of catalog that is how much it is completed and how much it is Left for Completion.
